1 Drawing, 2 Color Schemes | Art Illustration by Mei Yu

hey maybe this is may you and welcome to fun Friday thanks for your likes and comments in my previous video I'm glad to know you like my babies today I'll be doing a color scheme video where I'll take one drawing that I did and color it using two different color schemes I'll just be focusing on the coloring part for this video for the first one I'll be starting with a variety of lighter colors I love how soft the lighting is I'd love to color my artwork like this I feel like this is just so tranquil and peaceful I try to pick up colors as I go along like spontaneous and casual and yeah I'll see how it all looks like in the end in case you're new to my channel welcome and you can see many other art videos I've done with markers I usually hand draw and color my art I hope you enjoy I try to blend the different colors gently together so the whole piece will look harmonious [Applause] a lot of these gorgeous colors they all look so tasty so the first color scheme I went with our pastel colors here's the second color scheme I try to balance the colors with each other and since these are darker I had to make sure not to make like everything too dark by leaving some light areas okay so I gave her bright yellow skin I'm going with something different today [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] I'm so happy to hear that you told me that my art videos and artwork have helped some of you to find your passion and art this is one of the best rewards I've received for making these artworks and videos over the past eight years I love having all of you on this art journey with me this time I included some super bright colors and darker colors [Applause] [Applause] I love how the second turn out to other dramatic and bright colors okay so which color scheme do you like best let me know in the comments thank you for watching and I'll do another video on July 12 hope you have a great day and I'll see you in my next video

This drawing is so pretty… I like the both color schemes you used. I wouldn't know which one to choose (although I lean more on the pastel color scheme.)

  • Caiti8 Gotg says:

    The drawings look movie posters

  • Jennifer Choate says:

I prefer the second over the first one.

  • Sarsee Madlock says:

While both are colored so beautifully, I have to say I'm more drawn to the darker, more vibrant version. Pastel is a mood for me.

  • How2Draw Studios says:

I would love those "Tutorial Thursday" videos again! I've been having a lot of issues with drawing lately (especially anatomy) and I really need help! (Also people won't look at my art or respond to it ;w;)

  • Cheyenne Miotti says:

Drawing #2 is my favorite !

  • cassandraoftroy says:

The pastel one was gorgeous, but the part of me that had a Lisa Frank phase as a child can't help but pick the more saturated, second one, as my favorite. It's so vivid!

  • Coldy Snow says:

Maybe Iβ€˜m just weird, but I still donβ€˜t like the zoomπŸ€”

  • Elfie In Angel City says:

    I love both!!!

  • Tano Carbone says:

All of the challenges you do inspire me to try new things instead of following my normal, routine flow of drawing and coloring. Thank you Mei, even if you don't see this. ❀

  • Bianca Nunes says:

I love both drawings color scheme but my favorite is the pastel colors I think they are beautiful colors and when you draw and color you inspire me to draw and color

  • Fantasy Drawgirl says:

I love the neon art work you made

  • Breanne Forest says:

I wish you did a side by side comparison of the two at the end. They’re both very beautiful pieces. You’re so talented 😊

  • Candy E says:

I love them both of course but my most favorite one is the pastel one for sure. Beautiful!!!

  • gacha_ rikori says:

The second one looks like wengie
Also I love ur art u are such a inspiration to me I learned so much about drawing and coloring and I look up to you so I just want to say thank you πŸ˜„πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜†

  • adnelg319 says:

Pastel was definitely my favorite. It was still colorful but not as bright which made it seem more whimsical rather than childish. I did like how the hair looked starting with yellow and gradually getting darker in the second as well as all the spots.
I think a cool video would be a full color illustration without any line art. It would be a fun challenge to try to draw inside imaginary lines.

  • Felicita Prasetyo says:

I love those soft adorable gorgeous colors!!! 😍😍😍

  • Carolina Gardner says:

Hi Mei Yu Love your videos❀️
I was wondering if you can do the next video like drawing Disney princesses as Gothic girls or drawing Anime characters into Disney πŸ˜πŸ˜†β€οΈ it would be so awesome

  • Hannah Mariette says:

I would have liked to see both side by side at the end. That'd be cool to see the color differences.

  • Sarah Reeter says:

I love the peacefulness of the pastels! But that hair in the bold colors=too die for!!!

  • Janis Sepulveda says:

Aw would've been cool if you put them side by side at the end. Great video tho, I like the pastel colors the best πŸ’•

  • Citlali Cervantes says:

That's beautiful!!! I feel like your forst colour scheme represents childhood while your seccond one represents more adolescence.
