2017 Performers Showcase

hi we're here at the Arts Garden in downtown Indianapolis for the VCI performers showcase we've been spending the afternoon watching some excellent performances by some performers who've been touring all year with their ensembles and get to show off some of their individual skills today my fellow is memento by Ivan Trevino I believe for me personally the solo tells a story and that story kind of revolves around different like trials and tribulations that I've gone through in my life so as a very personal connection to me we're the cult Cymbeline today we've performed our symbol ensemble titled it's about time so the big thing of the entire show is Austin here as late coming into the show so we start the show he runs in late we've got a couple times ladies like late to notes and we all kind of freak out on him a little bit and then we kind of play around with tempos a little bit just to show like speeding through time or slowing down nothing so I am asleep player and the music education major at the University of Oklahoma so I picked up from that a few years ago so that I had a secondary so I can be a better band director and decided to follow my drum corps dreams because of it I've been playing trumpet for about three years whereas I've been playing flute for 11 so I decided to bring my piccolo on tour and compete in the performer showcase so I had a chance to show that talent and show that woodwinds have a place in DCI to this particular solo I think it really reflects my style playing because it pulls a lot of not as much as like group involved as there is like like really precise timing in math I got in Kherson – utrom said in the first place is just because appear lead because of all the Joseph solos like dianese I've seen on YouTube and stuff not was like wow I want to do that I want to be a rock star collect those guys we have a Facebook group were the phonemes that the blue told I was asking if anyone was interested in these two gentlemen right here responded and I had them send in a little audition tape and put cobble together from there so we decided to do a routine not too long ago actually because I knew my sister's in a solo so I asked her to do a duet and then my older sister kind of come up with the music and we decided to do it the value of this performer showcased is to show how musical someone can be and I believe in this you can get a little bit more personal and you can show the actual emotion behind and you can show who you actually are we really get to see what the individual members can do what groups can do what the members themselves of leaders can do for the ensemble rather than just being told what to do told what to perform we actually have to put it together and perform it and perfect it ourselves it really shows that these performers on the field while we work in a group we also have all come from different backgrounds and have our own individual talents they've been working all summer putting something on the field for the audience to see this is really a chance to show that other side of these musicians and what we've been working on other than what you see on the field you
