5 Ways To Make Money With Time Lapse Photography

Money, money, money, money… Money! Hey we’re Wayne & Deann with Dixon Pictures
and we have four things we need you to do today and that is to subscribe if you haven’t
already, and then to click on the bell for notifications when we post new content. Then click on the thumbs-up to give this video
a like & share this video with friends or people who might be interested in seeing it. Today we’re talking about ways how we make
money with time lapse photography and in no way is it a complete or an exhaustive list,
but some of the most effective ways that we’ve found so far and we thought we would share
those with you. The first way is and probably the most effective
way is through licensing, so periodically we have people contact us directly via email
who found our stuff online and they want to license it for their production, or their
ad or use it on their website etc., so they will negotiate a licensing fee with that individual
and we usually make the best money through that method. Another really effective way of generating
revenue from time-lapse footage is to submit your content to a stock photography site
that sells video footage and we have been using Blackbox for a number of months now
and that’s really worked out well and we’re continuing to add our content to that, keep that revenue
coming, and to build on that, and it’s been very effective. I think we have roughly 200
pieces of content in there now and we’re starting to see ongoing results from that. So that’s
worked out really well and Blackbox is really great for just having one portal to manage
all of your content instead of having to submit to multiple sites and upload and do all the
metadata. Blackbox saves us a lot of time. We’ll
put the link below for you to check that out. Another method of generating Revenue that
we kind of just stumbled upon and discovered was through creating cinemagraphs from our existing
time-lapses and that’s a fairly easy process to do from a time-lapse. If you’re not familiar
with what a cinemagraph is, it’s actually just a moving picture where one part of the picture
moves while another part remains static and still. I’m sure you’ve seen them. They’re used
really a lot in ads and marketing materials by a variety of different companies and they
are quite good for creating user engagement. Through that method, we’ve really had a lot
of opportunities for people contacting us as we put those online and made those available
to license a lot of our content as well. Another lesser-known community of creators
is hitrecord.org that we’ve submitted a lot of our content to as well, and periodically
our content gets using some of those projects that get created there and as those projects
are paid projects, then you receive an allocation of a specific amount of money as they get
paid out. Another method of generating revenue is using
a site like Patreon for your fans so you add additional content and engagement. We’re
not really familiar with that side of things we haven’t created a patreon account, but
we are considering it, and we’re looking into it as an option. If you have used Patreon or have any feedback about it, we’d love to hear from you, so please leave us a message in the comments
below. So these are just a few of the ways that we
found to make money through time lapse photography and I’m sure there are others, if you have
any other suggestions we would love to hear from you. Hey thanks for watching and if you like this
video please give it a thumbs up and subscribe. Don’t forget to share this video with your
friends.
