Bridging Art with Science

Bridging Art with Science

Biology inspires me, the natural world. All the things that we don't know, all the
things that we discover. The Universe starts revealing itself to me
because I'm asking the right questions. My name is Adam Brown, I'm an Associate Professor
of Electronic Art and Intermedia. My research practice focuses on art and science
hybrids. I could still even argue that I'm still trying
to piece all my interests together to create artwork. The key, I think, to creating a good piece
is a need to understand the discipline that you wish to interact with or collaborate with. Working in a collaborative manner allows you
to use technologies and epistemologies that you normally wouldn't have access to. Art has this unique ability to be critical
of culture in ways that other research don't. How does that change the way we see ourselves,
how we participate with one another on this planet? Philosophically, research institutions
value thoughts that challenge the norm, and MSU is a place where I can do that.
