Bringing the works of great composers back to life

Bringing the works of great composers back to life

Stanford and Perry were like pop stars
of their time their music was heard by thousands in concert halls and churches
across the land and is still loved today while a lot of their works have endured
others have not been heard for more than a hundred years and some have not been
heard at all so I decided to do something about this taking the original
manuscripts written by Stanford and Perry I began to build a musical picture
of these lost works the manuscripts provided the raw bones but then I was
faced with the task of editing them to make them available for modern
performance all the while I was thinking is that what Stanford and Perry would
have done is the balance right should the tempo be faster or slower
until we got it just right the result is that music which had never been heard
before or had long been forgotten is now being performed recorded and listened to
once more works like Stanford's Mass Via
Victrix and Parry's Oratorio Judith deserved to be heard I am extremely
proud to have helped bring the works of these two amazing composers back to life
for today's audience and I hope these great classical pieces will be performed
by orchestras for decades to come
