someone raise your hand give me a kind of music that evolved from african-americans yes jazz excellent another blues yes yes rap hip-hop rap let's call it – okay give up grant for up to four other R&B excellent but Arden being kind of combined with country music to become let's call it rock and roll a name a classical black musician yeah okay this is harder okay and this is a type of music that people don't generally associate with black african-american past so here's a problem that a lot of people don't know and we're still uncovering a lot of significant music that is associated with african-americans but is called classical so tonight we're going to be talking about and learning about four different composers who are african-american and who composed classical music which is really beautiful beautiful music and needs to have a wider audience and that's one of the reasons we're here tonight now the piece you're going to hear tonight has songs that you may actually know involved in it because again it's classical and its chamber music but it's songs that you may be familiar with for example you will hear part of the song on My Darling Clementine how many of you have heard of that okay sing along with me
