Department of Art | UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture

(music) – I’m Caron Cronin, and
I am the student advisor and admissions counselor
for the department of art. I work with both undergraduate
and graduate students with regard to their art studies. For undergraduate
students, this can include providing guidance for course selection, program planning, options
for art electives, and the process for
enrolling in contract courses or independent studies with art faculty. I help students who are considering taking some of their art major
classes while studying abroad or at other schools over the summer. I also meet with non-art majors who are considering
applying for the art major and/or enrolling in art classes. Making the most of your time at UCLA means not just completing requirements but also exploring and taking advantage of the many opportunities
and resources available. This can make a profound
difference in how you engage with your studies. For example, within the art department, you can apply for funding
for travel related to your creative research, or apply for support for
individual art projects that might be more
ambitious in scope, scale, or expense than what
you might ordinarily do for your class projects. Or you can participate in
or initiate exhibitions in the gallery spaces here
in the Broad Art Center. I’m very familiar with these departmental and campus opportunities and resources, and it is my job to help you
navigate and connect to them. I really enjoy my work, because the students are
so ambitious, engaged, and committed, and it is so
rewarding to see them thrive. Students can reach me by
phone, email, or in person. My office is located on the second floor of the Broad Art Center in Suite 2275, close to Untitled Cafe. I look forward to meeting you. (music)
