East Wauwatosa is 'Painting the town' as artists create six murals

SHELDON: THIS IS PRETTY
EXCITING, WE ARE GETTING OUR
FIRST LOOK AT THE TRANSFORMATION
RIGHT ALONG THE SALON. THERE IS GOING TO BE A MURAL
OUTSIDE CRANK AL’S, AND YOU
CAN SEE THE SKETCH IS ALREADY AT
THE SERVICE CENTER. I GOT TO CATCH UP WITH ONE OF
THE ARTISTS. ERIC RICKS IS ONE OF THE SEVEN
ARTISTS PAINTING A MURAL FOR THE
NEW INSTALLATION. THEY WERE CHOSEN FROM A GLOBAL
SELECTION OF SUBMISSIONS BY THE
WAUWATOSA TOURISM DEPARTMENT AND
THE DESIGN WILL BE FEATURED ON
THE SIDES OF BUILDINGS ALONG
NORTH AVENUE BETWEEN 68TH AND 69TH STREET. THEY HOPE TO MAKE THIS A
DESTINATION FOR PEOPLE TO LOOK
AT IT AND TALK ABOUT IT. >> JACKSON POLLOCK HAD A
STATEMENT THAT THERE WILL BE A
TIME WHEN YOU WILL NEED DOWN THE
REASON IS THE TRUE PUBLIC
GALLERY, IT IS OPEN TO
EVERYBODY. FOR ME, I FIND IS THE BEST WAY
TO ENGAGE WITH THE PUBLIC AND
SHARE MY WORK WITH A LARGER
AUDIENCE. >> AS A NATIVE, I’M SO EXCITED
TO SEE MORE ART COME DOWN NORTH
AVENUE AND I LOVE THE IDEA THAT
THEY ARE BRINGING — THAT THIS
ISN’T GOING TO BE THE ONLY
INSTALLATION. THAT ONE DAY, THERE WILL BE MORE
CONNECTING THE CITY TOGETHER. >> HERE IS A LOOK AT WHAT ERIC’S
FINAL PRODUCT IS GOING TOLOOK
LIKE WHEN HE IS DONE WITH IT. YOU CAN SEE HIM BEHIND ME, STILL
WORKING ON SETTING THE PRIMER ON
THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING OUTSIDE
THE SALON. HE AND ALL OF THE OTHER ARTISTS
WILL CONTINUE WORKING ON THEIR
WORKS OF ART THROUGH THE END OF
THE MONTH. IT SHOULD BE UP AND READY TO GO
SHORTLY AFTER THAT. ED
