How to use a fixative + Camel Artists' Fixative Review ! Saminspire

hey guys what's up welcome back to my channel so today I will be reviewing the art FINA artists fixative now I am going to divide this review into five parts first one being how to use this product second one being my experience with this product third one being the pros and cons of this fixative fourth one being demonstration that I will be showing it to you I am doing it off camera because I'm afraid it might spoil the lens and fifth one being my final conclusion on this product now this product has been in very high demand in the market nowadays so I thought it will be helpful to you if I make a rebel on it first of all a small disclaimer this video is not sponsored this product retails for 250 rupees as on 14 August 2016 and it is marketed by Cameron a fixative is something that is sprayed onto your artwork so that the pigments of the artwork don't get transferred and so it helps in increasing the lifespan of your art now this can be used for pastel charcoal and pencil and I'm not sure if it can be used for oil pastels I have not used and I don't know if you can use it what it does is when you spray it on your painting it will create like a adhesive layer on though which is very like transparent so that the pigments won't transfer to the paper or your fingers when you touch it now I am going to tell you how to use this product for the maximum results you have to shake this bottle will recede before using and you have to keep it at 25 centimeter distance from the painting that's where I go to spray on and the painting as well as the bottle should be in vertical position now you need to use this fixative very well ventilated area once you spray this just leave the room and come back after a couple of minutes maybe five ten minutes and then you check your painting because this mint really lingers in the room it gives off a very strong smell and it lingers in the room and also the smell is not good for you now I'm going to tell you about my experience with this product I bought this product in the month of January and this was not the one I bought a previous version to this product and it retailed for 230 Lee's I had a really bad experience with that so what happened the bottle was very defective and also you know it really didn't give the expected amount of coverage so I had to spray the bottle keeping it close to the painting and so it's saying my painting it completely spoiled my painting I am going to show you the painting itself so this is the one good thing is that I sprayed this after filming the video I have a video on how I did this so I don't know if you can see but there's a lot of stains dark spots the whole painting has become very dark I can see the shadow all of this is not the actual painting was very light and it's not in our uniform you can see it's all in that so of course I did not follow the instructions it has also stained the back of my paper it has made you know it's all yellow now and it completely ruined my painting I was in the verge of tearing this painting into pieces but then I thought you know I'm going to review about this product also the bottle was defective so I had to return it back to the art store and nearly seven months later I got a replacement which was for 250 rupees so now when I have got the new product and when I I found that they improved the formula of the fixative and also the packaging of the bottle it is well built and it is looking quite sturdy maybe they had this common complaint from most of the users maybe that's why they changed the packaging of the bottle now let's see the pros and cons of this exeter coming to the pros the first one has to be the cost this costs two hundred and fifty rupees for 200 ml of the product so it is quite cheap when compared to other international brands and second thing is the coverage well as I said the new improved formula is they never they mentioned that the formula is improve or anything but I observe that they have improved the formula it covers like 80 percent of your painting I'll be showing you a demo after this so that you can see the difference now let's see the cons of this fixative or the first one that I find is with the packaging I am not really happy with this lit red Hillier because if you can see the lid is not a you know correctly fit to the bottle I mean it is fit to the bottle you have to struggle a bit to open the lid the problem with this is if there is any residual product on the surface all while opening if it kind of accidentally presses itself then you might end up having product on to your eyes or on your face which is not a good thing so what I suggest is while opening it keep it as far from your eyes as possible I think they should improve the packaging of the lid and the second con is the smell it has a very strong smell as I said it's really annoying and it's very strong and it's not good to breed also the third problem that really concerns me is that you have to keep the product at least 25 centimeters from the painting and this means that most of the product gets wasted in the air so the product reaching on to your painting is like maybe a 50% and 50 person gets into the end that's the reason the room gets filled with the smell if I want to keep the painting near the spray and then spray it then the wastage wouldn't have been that much but if I do that then I'll remove my painting so it's quite a wastage of product so if I find 200 ml of product and 100 M is getting wasted only 100 ml I'm using it then it's quite a disadvantage and the fourth problem is that as I said while you're spraying most of it gets to the air so it's really hard to see where you're spraying and very exactly you're doing it so it's very hard to give a thin even layer of coat on to your painting some parts of the painting have more amount of this spray and some parts have less amount and this will be the problem when you will be spraying it keeping the painting near to the bottle but rules are rules the last one is the coverage so as I only said it covers like almost 70 to 80 percent of your painting but however it would have been better if it could cover better but for the cost I think it's okay now I am going to be showing you a short demonstration of this fixative so here I am using a soft pastel to demonstrate the spray as you can see the pastel is quite transferable now after using the fixative the spray worked quite well the pigment has not transferred onto my fingers but of course it worked that well because it's a very small area and also if you can observe there is some soft pastel dust around my ears watch this happened after spraying with the fixative and now let's compare it with the original soft pastel as you can see the sprayed pastel feels darker and more textured now I'm going to show you what happens when you spray on a larger work I have sprayed the fixative on this and if you can see the spray is not coated evenly however if I keep on spraying then it will change the colour of my original art however I will say that this product is quite good I will give it a rating of 3 of the 5 and of course I recommend it to other artists who use soft pastels or pencils or charcoal for the artwork I would recommend it until and unless I find a better product in the market well that interview I hope you found this video helpful do leave me your feedback and your video requests in the comments box below one of you asked me for a review on the manga artists oil pastels and I'm planning to buy them soon so I will be
