KlipKnob, live visuals made easy for DIY musicians

with the rise of digital distribution of music via streaming platforms the musician income has been heavily reliant on performances thankfully the live music market is thriving and people are now more willing than ever to pay to see their favorite artists the big names in music have certainly taken a note of this and are ramping up their use of visual elements to make their live shows more memorable artists like Beyonce have even created Netflix documentaries out of their performances but it's creating an unforgettable experience only reserved for the famous and established artist Kennedy iy artist playing in an average venue utilize technology to set themselves apart from the rest would it cost a lot of money and time to complement a musical performance with visuals these were the questions that I asked myself a lot as a band member and as a musician after taking the live video class at Berkeley I was introduced to resolume and it was a complete game changer I immediately started using it on my own performances and vjing for my classmates after a while I realized why there is a lack of visuals amongst the average DIY musicians and it was because of three reasons the first reason is the cost resolume costs over $800 and not everyone is willing to make that kind of investment especially if the returns are not so certain in the immediate future the second reason is the learning curve like any other software it takes a bit of time to learn all the features and resolume is no exception the third reason is the challenge of content creation this is especially difficult for your everyday musician because it requires knowledge of at least several different software's that also adds to the cost and the time investments that's why I decided to make my Cee a tool that helps bridge the gap between live visuals and the DIY musician and created clip now you can think of it as a GarageBand equivalent for live visuals it makes the visual creation process fast fun and most importantly accessible I believe that any musician with a laptop a MIDI controller and access to a projector should be able to create great-looking visuals I chose Mac's as my platform for creating clip not because of my limited programming background and its seamless integration with Ableton Live after countless hours of research on the Internet hacking patches together and lots of office hours with my advisor I think I have a pretty solid working prototype let me show you how it works
