M. Todd Gallowglas on the Benefits of Teaching and Mentoring Other Writers

so before writer like professional writer I've been writing all my life but before I was a writer as a ballroom dance teacher I know I get that I get that reaction a lot of people go wait what that's kind of a butt and I'm I'm I am really good at teaching um largely because I don't look at I don't look at the relationship between a teacher and a student as I'm giving you information is that I'm I have this thing that I'm passionate about and I'm trying to inspire you to be passionate about it to be able to do it to want to do it as well and so that's how I that's what I did is as a dance teacher I was because I love dancing I love ballroom dancing and everything and so I kind of took the same thing to writing and I'm I'm even more passionate about writing and the little nuances and the nitty and the greedy of writing that was about dancing because it's like make things up and people give me money and that's like oh my god how can you not love that or even just being able to make stuff up and have your own little escape and and but I I my approach to writing is I want to know everything about it I want to know all the little tricks I want to know all the nuances I want to know right I want to know about writing from the perspective of the craft and the art and the mechanics side of it but I also want to want I like to study writing as the reading aspect of it and so I want I come to it to inspire people to want to know more about writing as well largely because I'm selfish because I want to read excellent books and the more people that are studying all the aspects of writing to then create better fiction and better poetry and better essays I get better things to read you
