Mark Rothko im Kunsthistorischen Museum Wien

Mark Rothko im Kunsthistorischen Museum Wien

The Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna
is presenting for the very first time in Austria an exhibition of
the great American artist Mark Rothko, one of the giants
of post-war modern art. Together with his contemporaries,
Jackson Pollock, Barnett Newman, Willem de Kooning and Franz Kline, Rothko was part of a group
known as the “abstract expressionists” whose work and influence helped shift
the centre of the art world and the art market from Paris to New York. The exhibition here in Vienna presents
a complete overview of Rothko’s career, from the early figurative work of the 1930s through the transitional work of the 1940s to the classic abstraction
that we know best of the 1950s and 1960s. The exhibition will be on display
until the end of June and we very much
look forward to see you here!
