Soundcraft Si Performer Tutorial Chapter 4: Pre and Post

as we saw unlearned in previous chapters bus sends buses can be pre or post fade as you need and that's reflected on the faded low nominally the first ten buses are set up pre-fade for use on fallback monitor mix applications and the next four are set up post fade for use with the external effects or as audio subgroups but that can be changed per bus and per channel per bus and let's see how with the bus master selected you can access the outputs dmx menu and scroll down to the set sends pre or post we click to bring the options and i'm going to change this green post fade bus to pre fade the bus masters gone yellow as it's nominally pre fade and that of course is now reflected in the mixes on the console if we use the follow keys its follow bus 14 and bring some inputs to the surface we see that all the sends now the bus 14 are yellow because their pre fade let's just change that again live will set it post and all sends go green because the bus is set post as well as setting the bus sends pre or post fade also from the outputs menu it's possible to define if the pre fade send is pre or post the channel eq this is useful for certain monitor work where you may not want to apply the main channel EQ to the monitor mixes and you'll find the setting for that in the outputs menu just after the bus pre-post select let's look now how we can adjust the pre post settings on a per channel per bus basis let's navigate to the input that we want to work with in this case I'm going to use input 22 from the inputs menu we can scroll down the list and see the pre post settings for the channel we have two options now I can choose to set all of the sends from this channel pre fade or post fade to all of the buses using the drop-down list or post or all pre but I can also choose from the list lower down individual mixes all fourteen and use the drop-down on these lists to change them from pre fade to post fade and that's in this example just from channel 22 to mix full T we can see these changes reflected in the fade aglow color of we're starting to work with the mixes will activate the mix 14 follow mode to make sure we select 22 and now I can change this send here from post fade to pre fade and we see that reflected on the fader glow color of the console so those are the two methods of dealing with pre and post from the outputs menu you can select all channels to any particular mix to be pre or post and from an input perspective you can set all the sends of any input to any bus pre or post as you wish total flexibility
