The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn

Welcome to the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn,
where children explore their world with hands-on exhibits and activities. We are the region’s leader in the creation
of environment and activities that promote imagination, discovery and fun-while-learning
experiences. Every program and every exhibit at the children’s
museum is created with the Illinois Learning Standards at their core. This enables us to be a true extension of
hands-on-learning. Let’s take a look at just a few of the exhibits
here on the first floor. At “The Race Is On,” children will learn about
gravity, motion, momentum, force and energy in this kinetic exhibit that is enjoyed by
kids and adults alike. Kids will experiment with the forces of air
and cause and effect as they push a brightly colored cloth into the “Air Maze.” “”There’s, even more, fun on the second floor!” On the second floor, activities involving
all of the senses abound in our art room. Our young artists can experiment and create
their own masterpieces, including painting on the window. Let your child build various construction
projects in and around the “Build-It Workshop” (under adult supervision of course). Learning to use real tools safely, like saws
and hammers, with real materials provides a memorable experience that many children
would otherwise never have. Our “Dream a Dream Theatre” appeals to children’s
imaginative sides and their desire to tell stories. Children can select to use puppets in the
puppet area, dress up in costumes and perform on the stage. Kids cooperate to create their theatrical
masterpiece, learning together that the possibilities are endless because lots of choices are built
into this area. If they can dream it, “We can do it! “YEAH!” This is just a few of the great exhibits we
have here at the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn. We are open six days a week and are conveniently
located in downtown Oak Lawn, with a variety of restaurants nearby. We are also only a few steps from the “9/11 First Responders Memorial” at the Oak Lawn Patriot Station. So come on down and spend an afternoon with
us at the Children’s Museum, located in downtown Oak Lawn. We hope to see you soon.
