Watercolor International at the St. Louis Artists' Guild

this is the annual international exhibition of Missouri watercolor Society members we hold this annual exhibition every year this year it's here at the st. Louis artists guild we were honored that they allowed us to hold this here and we have about a hundred and four paintings from a hundred and four juried and selected artists from all over the world although the name of the society is Missouri watercolor society because we were formed here it really is an international organization of almost 500 members and I mean international Norway Greece all over the Far East the artists guild is very fortunate and having this show I think it'll bring a lot of people from all over the United States and maybe outside of the United States just to come and see the show the work here is internationally famous and the unique thing about this show is if you look at all the pictures the intensity of color is tremendous there's the extreme darks and lights and brightness that some people don't realize you can get with watercolor usually they think of these insipid pastels and they're not like that anymore watercolor used to be a medium that was used by oil painters and pastel painters merely as a method for laying out their real paintings now what our colors come into its own as you can see by this show some of the greatest paintings have been done in water it is a technical medium but it is also a light medium you get a lightbox effect here that you cannot get with any other kind of medium watercolor is the only way you do that this is some of the best watercolors you will ever see anywhere and you'll see a hundred and four of them in different styles by different artists we cover the gamut I would encourage you to come you will see unbelievable watercolors things that you could not imagine a water colorist could do
