My name is Abigail Morris I’m the Director of the Jewish Museum. The Jewish Museum tells the story of Jews from 1066 until the present day and what’s great is just as you don’t have to be a scientist to go to the Science Museum you don’t have to be Jewish to go to the Jewish Museum. Everyone is very welcome and, in fact, over 80% of the visitors here aren’t Jewish. There’s tonnes to do. We have object handling we have tours we have talks we have late night openings we have lots of stuff for families to do both guided and on their own and lots of interactivity. It’s a museum that has great objects and asks lots of questions and tells lots of interesting stories. It’s small from the outside but we’re really quite capacious on the inside and there’s lots to do! We have two permanent floors one which has a world-famous collection of Judaica beautiful, beautiful ritual objects and then we have a whole floor devoted to the social history of Jews really interesting stuff some of it funny, some of it sad lots of it that will make you think about your own lives as well as understanding things about the Jews who came to this country. We also have two floors which show changing exhibitions and we have a huge variety that we show anything from Amy Winehouse, Judith Kerr, fashion art, music. I do hope you’ve enjoyed hearing about the museum and I’d love to welcome you here.
